Updates on my altars and altarboxes

by valerie walker
(Updated Nov. , 2006:)

The main altar, draped for the Winter season

The Samhain altar, 2006. The masks are for the V for Vendetta ritual planned for November 5th.

Closeup of the objects on the Samhain Altar, which include a small jar of my mother's ashes and a copy of the Kaddish.

Ancestor altarcloseup centraloverhead

L., my ancestor altar. The picture on the right-hand side is of my mother at 16; the picture in the blue frame in the middle is of my cousin Victor Callender.
R., an overhead view of my central altar with the Hestia box altar. This is the altar at which I sit for daily practice.

bedaltar

This is the altar on our bed's headboard, which includes pictures of Ron and me. The framed announcement at the left is from our tenth wedding anniversary 18 years ago. Still Crazy After All These Years, indeed...

officealtar

An altar in our office which encompasses the vast range of our spiritual beliefs: everything from Archie McPhee's Nunzilla to Kuan Yin. Chaos!

coyotealtar eastaltar eastaltaroverview

L., another office altar, with Coyote, Ganesh, la Virgen de Guadalupe, the Lucky Cat and the Peacock Lord, plus a couple of aliens. More Chaos!
Middle, a closeup of the Eastern altar;
R., an overview of the same

southaltaroverview

Current view of the Southern altar, on the mantelpiece. Note that the goddess figure now in the bedroom used to live on this altar, and the goddess figure now on this altar used to live on the central altar. They do seem to enjoy change.

westaltaroverview westaltarclose

Two views of the Western altar in the bedroom by the window which overlooks the Pacific Ocean. This gets the sun in the afternoon and is a natural place for glass and crystal; besides, glass is simply slow liquid. The closeup on the right has a nice view of my amazing crystal ball. The two other globes are in what is apparently a power spot. If anyone puts a hand on or close to each of the globes, they can feel the energy zapping in at the right hand and out at the left. And it isn't even necessary to touch the central crystal to feel its power. Possibly this could have something to do with the fact that the infamous Sutro (radio) Tower is approximately three blocks north and slightly west of our house, and can be seen by looking out the window. Or perhaps it's magick. I dunno. But this altar is a great place to stand when you want to be in the driver's seat for the sunset. Curl your hair...

L., my Nimue/Isis altar. R., Ron's altar
